Rachel Scott: Reflection of English 1101

I thought I was a pretty decent writer but taking English 1101 taught me that I needed to sharpen up on my skills. College writing is way different than high school, especially when it comes to certain types of papers like the Rhetorical Response. Throughout the course I learned to use more play on words and sprucing up my vocabulary helped me in a major way. I took from 1101 that I don't need to be afraid to write, just make sure my ideas and thoughts are combined in a way that makes sense and flows together consistently. Last semester opened my eyes to be more aware of the audience that I was trying to reach when writing. It is important to feed into their needs to keep them engaged. If I did not take 1101 I probably would not be able to incorporate all of these things.
